Terms & Conditions
These Terms govern access to and use of Scamenot, a fraud-awareness, scam-reporting and due-diligence platform operated as a product of Peygo Integrated Services Limited.
1. Acceptance
By accessing Scamenot, carrying out a search, creating an account, submitting a report, uploading evidence, purchasing or accessing a Full Report, or otherwise using the platform, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Statement, and the Confidentiality & Non-Malicious Use Agreement.
If you do not agree, you should not use Scamenot.
2. Purpose of Scamenot
Scamenot was created in response to the widespread lack of trust surrounding online shopping, social-commerce transactions, bank transfers, informal sellers, digital marketplaces, service providers and other transactions where fraud or scams may occur.
Its purpose is to curate information that may help users exercise greater caution before sending money or entering a transaction.
Scamenot may allow users to search phone numbers, bank account numbers and other identifiers; view search-activity information; submit reports; upload supporting evidence; access curated fraud intelligence; and purchase enhanced or Full Reports.
3. Curated Reports and Allegations
Information displayed by Scamenot may originate from users, affected persons, submitted evidence, moderation processes, platform activity and other information legitimately available to Scamenot.
A report is an allegation, complaint, experience or account supplied by a third party. The existence of a report does not by itself establish that a person committed fraud, theft, deception or any criminal offence.
Scamenot may curate, categorise, compare, moderate, restrict, connect or organise reports and evidence. Terms such as “curated”, “reviewed”, “verified”, “evidence-backed” or “under verification” refer only to Scamenot's internal handling of the available information and do not amount to a judicial or governmental finding.
4. No Guarantee of Accuracy
Scamenot makes reasonable efforts to improve the usefulness and quality of information on the platform, but fraud intelligence is inherently incomplete and can change quickly.
Scamenot does not guarantee that reports, evidence, search activity, names, phone numbers, bank account numbers, classifications, timestamps, risk indicators or other information are complete, current, error-free or conclusive.
Users are expected to apply their own judgment, common sense, independent verification and discerning intelligence before deciding whether to send money, buy goods, retain a service provider or enter a transaction.
5. Empty Reports Do Not Mean Safe
If a search or Full Report returns no complaints, no verified reports, no evidence-backed reports or otherwise appears empty, that does not mean the person, seller, account holder, business or transaction is legitimate.
It may simply mean Scamenot has not yet received relevant information concerning that identity.
- A person who has never been reported can still commit fraud.
- A newly created phone number or bank account can still be used for fraud.
- A scammer may change phone numbers, accounts, names, websites or social-media pages.
- Scamenot cannot know about every transaction or scam that has occurred.
Users must continue to exercise independent caution even where Scamenot has no adverse information.
6. A Populated Report Is Not Proof of Guilt
The existence of reports, evidence, repeated searches or other signals does not automatically mean the subject is a scammer.
Information may be affected by misunderstandings, commercial disputes, mistaken identity, malicious submissions, duplicate reports, incomplete evidence or matters that have later been resolved.
Search activity is not proof of fraud. A statement such as “15 checks on Scamenot” means the identifier has been checked that number of times within the platform's records. It does not necessarily mean 15 different people checked it and does not mean 15 complaints exist.
7. Your Responsibility Before Sending Money
Scamenot is intended to encourage caution, not replace it. Before sending money, users should independently assess the recipient, confirm payment details, verify the seller or business where possible, preserve communications and receipts, and use protected payment methods where available.
The final decision to send money, purchase goods, enter an agreement or continue dealing with another person remains entirely yours.
8. Paid Full Reports
Certain detailed information may only be available through a paid Full Report. A Full Report may include available report history, evidence status, verification information, linked identifiers, search-activity intelligence, incident intelligence, disputes, resolutions, timestamps and other information available to Scamenot at that time.
Payment is for access to the intelligence available to Scamenot when the report is generated. It is not payment for a guarantee that negative information will exist.
9. Search Activity Intelligence
Scamenot may record searches conducted through the platform and may display information such as total checks, recent checks, first checked date, last checked date, activity within a period and general activity trends.
Search statistics are activity indicators only. They are not accusations and should not be treated as evidence of misconduct.
Scamenot may apply controls to reduce automated, abusive, duplicate or manipulated activity, but search totals may still include repeat checks by the same person or device.
10. Pricing, Offers, Payments and Refunds
The price of a Full Report and any promotional price will be shown before purchase. Scamenot may offer time-limited discounts or lookup offers which may expire automatically.
Payments may be processed through bank transfer, virtual account or another approved mechanism. A report will ordinarily be unlocked only after payment confirmation.
Because Full Reports are digital information products, payments are generally non-refundable once the report has been successfully unlocked, accessed or downloaded, except where required by applicable law or where Scamenot determines that a duplicate payment, payment-processing error or genuine non-delivery occurred.
The fact that a Full Report contains no complaints or adverse information is not, by itself, evidence of non-delivery.
11. Submitting Reports
When submitting a report, you confirm that you genuinely believe the information you provide is materially accurate and that you are not knowingly submitting false, fabricated or deliberately misleading information.
You should distinguish facts you personally know from suspicions, assumptions, opinions or information obtained from another person.
You must not use Scamenot to settle personal disputes, damage a competitor, harass a former partner, retaliate against someone, extort money, manipulate a reputation or intentionally cause harm.
12. Evidence
Users may be permitted to upload screenshots, receipts, payment records, communications, images, documents or other evidence.
By uploading evidence, you confirm that you have a lawful basis to provide it and are not knowingly violating applicable law or third-party rights.
Scamenot may review, restrict, remove, retain or refuse evidence where appropriate for moderation, legal compliance, fraud prevention, security or dispute handling.
13. Disputes and Corrections
A person or organisation whose identifier appears on Scamenot may request review of information relating to them. Scamenot may require reasonable proof of identity before processing such a request.
Where appropriate, Scamenot may correct inaccurate information, mark information as disputed, add a response, restrict certain information, remove information, record a resolution or take other suitable action.
A review request does not automatically require deletion of legitimate fraud-prevention records where retention is lawful and reasonably necessary.
14. No Vigilantism or Harm
Information obtained through Scamenot must never be used to threaten, intimidate, stalk, assault, blackmail, extort, dox, shame, harass, unlawfully discriminate against or otherwise harm another person.
Users must not organise or encourage mob action, retaliation or extrajudicial punishment based on Scamenot information. Suspected criminal conduct should be reported through appropriate lawful channels.
15. Prohibited Uses
- Submitting knowingly false or fabricated reports.
- Uploading forged, altered or misleading evidence.
- Manipulating search counts or report totals.
- Scraping, harvesting or bulk-extracting Scamenot data.
- Reselling or republishing Full Reports without written permission.
- Using Scamenot data to harass, threaten, blackmail, extort or harm another person.
- Using the platform to commit or facilitate fraud.
- Defeating platform security, uploading malware or interfering with service availability.
Scamenot may restrict or terminate access where these rules are violated.
16. Intellectual Property
Scamenot's software, interface, branding, reports, compilation methods, classifications, database structures, written materials and proprietary intelligence systems belong to Peygo Integrated Services Limited or its licensors.
Purchasing a report gives you a limited right to use that report for legitimate personal or internal due-diligence purposes. It does not transfer ownership of Scamenot intellectual property.
17. No Resale or Republishing
Full Reports may not be scraped, repackaged, commercially resold, reproduced in bulk, republished as another fraud database or used to build a competing intelligence service without written permission from Peygo Integrated Services Limited.
Reasonable disclosure to a lawyer, bank, law-enforcement authority, regulator, insurer or professional adviser for a legitimate purpose is permitted.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Scamenot and Peygo Integrated Services Limited are not liable for losses arising solely from a user's decision to rely on, disregard, misunderstand or misuse information supplied through Scamenot.
This includes circumstances where a user sends money after receiving no negative report; refuses a legitimate transaction because of misunderstood information; relies on inaccurate third-party information; suffers fraud despite conducting a Scamenot search; or suffers damage because another user misuses platform information.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
19. Indemnity for Misuse
To the extent permitted by law, a user who knowingly submits fraudulent information, fabricated evidence, malicious allegations or unlawfully uses Scamenot information may be responsible for losses, claims or reasonable costs resulting directly from that misconduct.
20. Availability
Scamenot may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, upgrades, network failures, third-party service failures, security events or circumstances outside reasonable control. Uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.
21. Changes
Scamenot may evolve as technology, fraud patterns and regulation change. These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes may be communicated through the platform where reasonably appropriate.
22. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Users should first raise disputes with Peygo Integrated Services Limited so that the parties may attempt good-faith resolution before pursuing other remedies available under applicable law.
